Hello yes I am still breathing and yes my heart is still pumping the same German blood : ). So I was thinking randomly as I often do and and one thought captured my attention . The thought was, what would you if you and everybody else you knew were forced out of your house and left without a car. How would you live? So then this really got me thinking of what survivel skills I know of and I have been found wanting. But as far as I can think of how I would live I would defiantly want to live by a stream or fresh water source so that I can grow veggies , and then I would use the water also to make lye from the ashes of our fire and would also use the fat off the critters we catch to mix in with the lye and make Lye soap. But then comes all the work in between that i do not think of such as how would you get the seeds for you plants, what would you use to kill the little critters, how would you start a fire, and before you had soap what would you use to bath with. I would like to think that I could just use lavender or rosemary water since they have antibacterial properties in them but then were would I get the leaves..
What would you do or do you never worry or think of such things ?
My oh my I shall just have to keep thinking and learning.
Then on a more positive note, we have wrapped many presents and hath lade them out by our slightly out of tune Piano. As i observe the bounty which has been set out I cannot help but feel blessed. God has truly blessed us beyond measure. So many time we think that out life is hard but the holidays always prove that we live in much higher luxury than some. for instance we complain about not enough money , but always sit down to eat supper, We say that we work so hard , as we fill our dishwashers. I think its time that we step back and see how truly blessed we are this season.
Speaking of blessings I am so happy about my chickens right now it is so mush fun to go out side and whatch them scurry about pecking at grass and the dirt. To watch my silkies running about like little fluff balls. I cannot wait to have my cottage out in the woods some day with my front yard filled with chickens..
Until next time

I am back...
this past month i have been up in IN with my Opa and Oma (grandpa and grandma) and i have to say it has been quite a time of laughter, learning and driving Amish... ( no offence) . For the laughter part it has been a time of seeing how similar me and my Oma are in our impatiants with opening things. Such as snack boxes ( they do not open by the "tab" if you pull the tab it rips, so we ended up just tearing the whole top in shreds), cold meat storers ( why do they have it in a plastic box plus the meat its self sealed in a plastic wrapping and at the corner it written in little lettering " pull here" with just and 1/4 of and inch to pull. We ended up attacking it with a scissors).OOOhhh and bottles "sealed" so tightly you have to us your teeth or a pliers to open.
And then with my Opa our love for photography and flowers ( and a little stubbornness : ) ) and the eye that finds good pictures. I am so appreciative of my Opa he has given me good tips for taking photography and has much wisdom about how to live.OOhh and our thinking on how the government could be better : ).( Great talks)
And alas the Driving of Amish. Well i cannot say i am going to miss the late night of getting home at 11:00pm from driving to and from Rest Haven. And i about have County Road 19 and 30 pretty down pat. But i am going to miss the good talks we had and the last minute stops to get Klondike ice cream bars to eat while we wait for the people to come to take them home.. Good times

Children !!!!!!
So it is not like I am a expert at this or any thing it is just my observations of child rearing... Feel free to correct me if I am out of my bounds or wrong. I would love to hear your input.
Attitudes and Personalities
I do not think that a child was born with a bad attitude, but a thing that progresses over time. For example, say there was a toddler about 17 months whose personality was naturally a head strong personality or maybe even a leader personality. But these personalities were mistaken for a bad attitudes ( not saying that if they do some thing wrong to let it go unnoticed) so his mom would say that he is spoiled or even a brat around him or in his face. If the mother started to say this when he was a young age he maybe would start to think that he is supposed to act like that around her. This can also result when the mother does not have any restrictions or standards for the toddler or maybe even ignores him. He starts to thinks that he can do any thing with out getting in trouble, or if ignored will go to extremes to get any attention he can.
People are naturally going to need attention, encouragement and affirmation. If you would take a person and every day ignore him, or when you would talk to him you would tell him he can't do any thing right, and that he is a spoiled brat. You would have one depressed. sad, and angry person. I think the same goes for children, if that is all they hear then they will go to extremes to get your attention or become a brat because that is what you labeled them..
I have seen this happen before, A grandmother that takes care of her grandson quite often but has not rules for him. She lets him break things, through things, and through temper tantrums and never disciplines him or tells him he is not to do that, instead shakes it off on that he just wants to go out side, or he thought is was a ball, or even that it does not matter for him to break some thing because she can always get a new one. Then ,then mom comes and pics him up and he is a total mess and then she says things like " Your a brat ", " Your a mess", and " Your so spoiled" . And When around them he acts like what he is called, labeled, and "aloud" to do. Then there is another family that takes care of him often, they play with him give him boundaries tell him he is such a " sweety pie" and disciplines him when he does wrong and encourages him when he does good. And over night he becomes a totally different child. He often will listen when you say no, and hardly through's tantrums or when he does they are short. He will cuddle and give hugs and kisses he is completely different.
So that is just some thing to think about and even I still have to think about it. Like I said would love to hear any input or correction in my thinking.
Have a good week

today and other things.....
Well I just got done with my school work for the day and i feel like my brain if fried. Today in my history was interesting, did you know that if you were convicted for gossip ( yes that was against the law back in the olden days ) you would have to wear a mask with a spike by the tongue. When i heard that i was like WOW thats harsh, but if you think about it, the punishment would be so cruel and hard that people would not do it in fear of being caught. How much better the world would be with out gossip.
OOHHHHH. My mom bought this Glade candle and it smells AMAZING. I think the scent is like apple some thing, and it is burning right next to me and is making me think of Christmas, apple pie, apple pie with a cup of coffee, and sugar. That makes me hungry for apple pie, or my over reactive, and dieted mind telling me it would be so yummy.
Well i have to go and get the fest of my stuff done and hope the taste of an apple takes away my craving . : )

living with brothers
here are some tips to girls who live with guys ( brothers... etc.)
1. always check and make sure there is toilet paper before you relieve your self .
1. always check and make sure there is toilet paper before you relieve your self .
2. learn to not be too disgusted of frogs, crickets, etc. It seems that once they find out you are, they will torture you relentlessly.
3. keep your bedroom door locked they seem not to understand the meaning of knocking and it's importance.
4. do not mention their lack of facial hair, for it is a very touchy subject for them.
5. make sure the toilet seat is down before you sit down.
6. do not pay attention to their unibrow.

Last days of summer
Amazing weekend, My mom and dad were gone on a motor bike trip, so that meant hanging out with friends and late nights the whole weekend. On Saturday my sister and I went to my friend Trisha's house and spent the night there with some of my other friends. Crazy night, ate s Oreo's and m&m's and stayed up till 5:30 watching " One Tree Hill ". Then got up in the morning and went to church. I am still affected by the lack of sleep. "Yawn...." Then went to Cassy's house and , made lunch and ate..." yummy"
Well summer has officially come to an end here in NC. The last of the schools have opened and the rooms are filled with exciting talk of children. While I sit here and wait for all my school books to come to gather so I can start another year of home schooling.
One thing that I regret about this summer is that I never went swimming, and I absolutely love it. Well maybe if we go to Florida this year I will be able to.
So I have decided to have a question for every time I post and would love to see you answer. So here is the first question
Q- what is one thing you wish you would have done this summer?
PS: Here are some pics from the last weekend of my summer.
Watching a movie. This is my friend cassy
silly
We watched "Shang High Noon" Funny movie
Trying to look "cool". Did not work out that great.
Coffee- good for the soul
